Sgt. Ryan Patrick Schetter passed away at his mother's home Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018, at the age of 31.
He was born March 20, 1986, to Barbara (Long) and Scott Schetter.
Ryan enlisted in the U.S. Army in July 2004, where he served two tours in Iraq prior to returning to his home town to continue his military career as a recruiter. Ryan was honorably discharged in 2014.
Ryan had such passion and was a loving and dedicated son, brother and uncle. Care and passion beyond limits. Determined to remain true to himself and continue to be "stubborn" by all definitions.
He is survived by his parents, Barbara (Aggie) Gleason and Scott (Sandy) Schetter; siblings, Tyler (Kaitlyn) Underwood and Brandon (Janell) Gleason; and grandparents, Jim and Deanna Long, Bonnie Puckett and Elmer and Sandy Schetter.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, especially his niece, Shaelyn, and nephews, Gabriel and Cash, and those he loved as his own, Kay, Sage and Jude.
To honor Ryan's two deployments to Iraq and his love and dedication to his country, the Patriot Guard will escort Ryan to his final resting place at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield. The procession will leave from Crain Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau 9:45 a.m. Monday.
Graveside military honors for Sgt. Ryan Patrick Schetter will be held at the cemetery at 11 a.m.
Anyone who wants to ride his bike, please do. After the service, everyone is invited to join his family and friends at the Jaycee Hall in Oran, Missouri, for a meal.
The family requests donations to be made to either the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention at afsp.org/capegirardeau by searching either "Barb Gleason" or "Ryan Schetter" or to PETSFORVETS at petsforvets.com/donate.
