Scott Alvin Beggs, 60, of Jackson passed away Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2024, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

He was born Feb. 2, 1963, in St. Louis, son of LaDonia Beggs and the late Stanley Beggs of Jackson. He was baptized and confirmed at Emanuel United Church of Christ in Jackson.

Scott graduated from Jackson Senior High School in 1981. He graduated from Southeast State Missouri University in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science in Horticulture and a minor in agriculture business. He worked at Pioneer Market and Pioneer Orchard his entire life.

He was a president of Horticulture Society of Missouri. He enjoyed spending time at the family orchard and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed many sports, but his favorite was by far football.

In addition to his loving wife of 34.5 years, Darla Beggs of Jackson, Scott is survived by his mother; a son, Hunter Beggs of Jackson; a daughter, Audrey (Tyler) Brugger of Jackson; two brothers, Layton (Heather) Beggs and Dean Beggs of Jackson; five nieces and five nephews; and a grandchild on the way.

Scott was preceded in death by his father.

A celebration of life will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, March 17, at Emanuel United Church of Christ in Jackson.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the family to assist with hospital and care expenses.

Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston is in charge of arrangements.
