BELL CITY, Mo. -- Sandra Sue Abner, 77, of Bell City passed away Monday, Aug. 2, 2021, at her home.
She was born June 10, 1944, at Sikeston, Missouri, the daughter of John Murphy and Georgia Pearl Hagy Griffin. Sandy and Howard "Shotgun" Wayne Abner were united in marriage April 21, 1963, in Advance, Missouri.
Sandy's family was her everything. She had been a loving and caring homemaker, wife, mother and Mimi.
She was a devoted member of the Bell City United Methodist Church. She had been a Sunday school teacher and was part of the Visiting Team. Her Sunday school class children called her Mimi, the same as her grandchildren.
Sandy was an amazingly talented and crafty woman. She enjoyed painting, cooking and sewing. She could sew anything, often making matching outfits for her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Howard "Shotgun" Abner of the home; son, Tim (Kandy) Abner of Marble Hill, Missouri; daughter, Tammy (Bo) Duenne of Bell City; brother, John (Kay) Griffin of Morley; three sisters, Betty Emerson of Morley, Missouri; Marsha (Mark) Centanni of Fort Myers, Florida; and Jane (James) Rogers of Bloomfield, Missouri; six grandchildren, Kandice (Nikki) Cervantes, Whitney (Ryan) Asher, Amanda (Robert) Holzum, Timothy (Kayleigh) Abner, Mallory Dames and Jack Duenne; nine great-grandchildren, Zhoey Danielle Abner, Brycen Wayne Abner, Adley Suzane Asher, Maximus Robert Dames, Rhett Theodore Holzum, Wyatt Lee Holzum, Miles Howard Dames, Beckham Roy Dames and Kennedy Jane Dames, and baby on the way, Gracie Jo Asher; sisters-in-law, Charlotte Griffin of Morley; in-laws, Don (Trish) Abner of Bell City, Barb (Fred) Brown of Bell City, Sherry Barrick of Bell City, Rhoda Burton of Bloomfield, Virginia Niemczyk of Sikeston and Alfred Jordan of Advance; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Ronnie, Jim Allen and Richard "Dick" Griffin; and two sisters-in-law, Doris Hess and June Jordan.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance.
A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the chapel with the Rev. George Rendleman and the Rev. Jim Robinson officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Bell City.
