Samuel L. "Sam" Green, 83, of Jackson passed away at the home of his daughter Sunday, Jan. 2, 2022.
He was born April 10, 1938, in St. Louis, son of William and Josephine Freeman Green. He and Melba "Jolene" Thorne were married Sept. 28, 1957. She passed away Sept. 18, 2006.
Sam and Jolene moved from St. Louis to Jackson in 1982. He worked at the former Jackson Auto Body Shop for many years. Sam enjoyed the simple things in life: hunting, fishing, camping and just being outdoors.
Loving survivors include three children, Michael (Donna) Green of St. Louis, Nancy Henderson of Hillsboro, Missouri, and David (Kim) Green of St. Peters, Missouri; a daughter-in-law, Cindi Green of St. Louis; nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and seven siblings.
In addition to Jolene Green, his wife of nearly 49 years, he was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Green; a son-in-law, Donald Henderson; and five siblings.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Don Estes officiating. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Mountain View Cemetery in Des Arc, Missouri.
