ANNA, Ill. -- Funeral for Samuel J. Grear of Anna will be held at 11 a.m. today at Hileman and Parr Funeral Chapel in Jonesboro, with Pastor David Eidson officiating. Burial will be in Jonesboro Cemetery, with military rites by Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 3455.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 8 a.m. until service time.

Grear, 81, died Wednesday, July 8, 1998, at Illinois Veterans Home in Anna.

He was born Jan. 16, 1917, in Anna, son of Clyde and Effie Morgan Grear.

Grear was a carpenter 20 years at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. He was a member of VFW Post 3455, Jonesboro IOOF Lodge, and Anna Moose Lodge. He was a veteran of World War II.

Survivors include a son, Sam Grear of Las Vegas, Nev.; and two granddaughters.
