CAIRO, Ill. -- Samuel R. DeHaven, 82, of Cairo died Thursday, June 20, 2002, at Daystar Care Center.
He was born Feb. 24, 1920, in Paducah, Ky., son of Sam and Ethel Bird DeHaven. He married Anne Mattingly.
DeHaven served 21 years in the U.S. Air Force, retiring as chief master sergeant. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War.
He then was a planner with McDonnell-Douglas Corp. 15 years. He was a member of Cairo Elks Lodge 651.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Priscilla DeHaven of Mehlville, Mo., April Long of Anna, Ill.; two sons, Samuel DeHaven of Ember Groves, Minn., George DeHaven of Jefferson City, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jerome Fortenberry officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at Villa Ridge, Ill.
