Samuel C. Barnhart Sr., 79, of Cape Girardeau died at 8:25 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31, 2012 at The Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born on Aug. 31, 1933, in Marmaduke, Ark., to Jess and Mable Sheridan Barnhart. He married Yvonne Ventres on May 1, 1953. She preceded him in death in April 1995.
Samuel served his country honorably and was a member of VFW Post 3838 in Cape Girardeau. He was a loving man that deeply enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by a son, Samuel Barnhart Jr. of McClure, Ill.; four daughters, Wendi Barnhart of Cape Girardeau, Sharon Jacobs of Brookport, Ill., Pam Almond of Joplin, Mo., and Beth Vidrick of Mililani, Hawaii; and also numerous grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at Crain Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Chris Clifton officiating. Interment will follow in Lorimier Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society and will be accepted at the funeral home.
