PUXICO -- Samuel Ashley McTurnan, 85, of Puxico, died Thursday, Dec. 2, 1993, at his home. He was born Feb. 12, 1907, in Hornbeck, Tenn., son of Julius and Lula Sowell McTurnan. He and Captolia James were married June 28, 1928. She died June 19, 1982...

PUXICO -- Samuel Ashley McTurnan, 85, of Puxico, died Thursday, Dec. 2, 1993, at his home.

He was born Feb. 12, 1907, in Hornbeck, Tenn., son of Julius and Lula Sowell McTurnan. He and Captolia James were married June 28, 1928. She died June 19, 1982.

Survivors include a son, William McTurnan of Puxico; a brother, Willie McTurnan of Maryville, Tenn.; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a brother and five sisters.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Chiles-Cooper Funeral Chapel in Bloomfield. The Rev. Earl Lizenbee will officiate, with burial in Walker Cemetery near Bloomfield.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 p.m. today.
