Sam was very involved in his community. He was a member of American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Moose Lodge. His accomplishments were many and selling raffle tickets and fundraising for the organizations close to his heart were favorite pastimes. He also enjoyed St. Louis Cardinals baseball, reading and following sports.

Sam was also a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and a friend to all. He will be missed and his "one-liners" will live on in all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Stausing of Union; sons, Dax Stausing of St. Louis and Dane (Julie) Stausing of Scott City; three grandchildren, Xander, Tabor and Ziera Stausing; sister, Kathy Jo Roberts (Russ) Alderman of Osprey, Florida; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral was Feb. 18 at Oltmann Funeral Home in Union. Interment will be at a later date at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.

Memorials may be given to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or to grandchildren's education fund (checks made payable to Sharon Stausing).
