PAINTON, Mo. -- S. Ray Johnson, 81, of Painton passed away Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2017, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau. PAINTON, Mo. -- S. Ray Johnson, 81, of Painton passed away Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2017, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Oct. 28, 1935, at East Prairie, Missouri, the son of Tom and Clara Hale Johnson.

Ray had been a mechanic for the Sikeston (Missouri) School District and then was a laborer for Leonard Masonry in St. Louis.

Ray attended Advance First Church in Advance, Missouri. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was very good at repairing lawn mowers.

Ray and Mary Lou Daniel were united in marriage July 27, 1957, at Charleston, Missouri, and she survives of the home.

Along with his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Kimberley (Danny) Johnson Gramlicsh of Advance; his granddogs, Elvis, Lisa Marie and Dolly; a brother, Jasper Johnson of Kankakee, Illinois; and two sisters, Wilhelma Burks of Wentzville, Missouri, and Barbara Figliolo of Festus, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Dee, Tommy, David, Robert and Joseph Thomas Johnson; and two sisters, Evelyn Johnson Miller and Jeanette Johnson Smotherman.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Friday at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance.

A funeral service will be at noon Friday at the chapel, with the Revs. Brad Moore and Wayne Page officiating. Burial will follow at Baker Cemetery near Marble Hill, Missouri.
