ANNA, Ill. -- Ryan Andrew Powers, 11, of Anna, formerly of Olmsted, Ill., went quietly away to be with Jesus in the early morning hours on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010, at his home in Anna. Ryan was born at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau on May 4, 1998. He was a miracle baby that touched the lives of many during his time here...

ANNA, Ill. -- Ryan Andrew Powers, 11, of Anna, formerly of Olmsted, Ill., went quietly away to be with Jesus in the early morning hours on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010, at his home in Anna.

Ryan was born at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau on May 4, 1998. He was a miracle baby that touched the lives of many during his time here.

He attended the early childhood program at Meridian Elementary School from the age of 3 until 6 years of age under the loving care of his favorite teacher, Mrs. Helen Kefauver. Afterwards, due to frequency of illnesses, he was placed and continued on home-bound with nursing services to help provide care in the home. Ryan was an avid collector of John Deere Tractors and was a St. Louis Cardinals fan along with his family.

Ryan and his family are members of Shiloh Baptist Church in Villa Ridge.

Ryan is survived by his mother and father, Teresa and Stacy Powers of Anna, formerly of Olmsted, two older sisters, Aaren and Taylor Powers of Anna, his paternal grandparents, Ladillon Powers of Olmsted and Dr. Marvin and Cathy Powers of Paducah, Ky.

Ryan is predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Chester and Leta Scott; and his paternal grandmother, Lois Ann Downs Powers.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak, Ill., with the Rev. Larry Miller officiating.

Burial will follow in the Cache Chapel Cemetery in Ullin, Ill.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice; envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
