MOUNDS, Ill. --Ruth Nixon, 75, of Mounds died Sunday, Dec. 6, 1998, at Massac Memorial Hospital in Metropolis. She born April 26, 1923, in Pulaski, daughter of H.E. and Grace Corzine Smoot. She was married to Jay Nixon, who died in 1984. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Mounds, the Mounds Women's Club, Home Extension and was superintendent of the textiles exhibits at the Pulaski County Fair...

MOUNDS, Ill. --Ruth Nixon, 75, of Mounds died Sunday, Dec. 6, 1998, at Massac Memorial Hospital in Metropolis.

She born April 26, 1923, in Pulaski, daughter of H.E. and Grace Corzine Smoot.

She was married to Jay Nixon, who died in 1984.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Mounds, the Mounds Women's Club, Home Extension and was superintendent of the textiles exhibits at the Pulaski County Fair.

Survivors include two sons, Dale Nixon of Monticello and Thomas Nixon of Mounds; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be after 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday at First United Methodist Church in Mounds.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. at the church, with the Rev. Jerry Herring officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Pulaski.
