PERRYVILLE -- Ruth M. Probst Stallings, 80, of St. Charles, Mo., died Saturday, Jan. 8, 1994, at the St. Charles Health Center.
She was born Oct. 7, 1913, at Charleston, daughter of Monroe and Alice Reed Vessells.
She married Oscar L. Probst in November 1931. He died Feb. 25, 1973.
She later married Harold Stallings. He preceded her in death.
Stallings was a retired sewing machine operator at the Shoe Factory in Perryville. She also worked as a factory worker with Avon in Pasadena, Calif.
She was a former member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville.
Survivors include a son, Oscar L. Probst Jr. of St. Peters, Mo.; a daughter, Shirley Mecker of St. Charles; a brother, Leonard "Corky" Vessells of Hemet, Calif.; a sister, Ruby Fravel of Dalton, Ill.; seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 5-9 p.m. Tuesday and from 6:30-9:45 a.m. Wednesday at the Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville. There will be a rosary at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville, with the Fr. Kenneth Grass C.M. officiating.
Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
