DEXTER -- Ruth Florine Wiggs, 79, of Dexter died Friday, Feb. 20, 1998, at her home. She was born April 27, 1918, in Bernie, daughter of James and Martha Stephens. On Dec. 31, 1933, she married Chalmer Wiggs. He died Nov. 25, 1997. She had been a resident of Dexter for many years. Prior to moving to Dexter, she lived in the Leora community as a homemaker. DEXTER -- Ruth Florine Wiggs, 79, of Dexter died Friday, Feb. 20, 1998, at her home.

She was born April 27, 1918, in Bernie, daughter of James and Martha Stephens. On Dec. 31, 1933, she married Chalmer Wiggs. He died Nov. 25, 1997.

She had been a resident of Dexter for many years. Prior to moving to Dexter, she lived in the Leora community as a homemaker. She later assisted her husband in the insurance business.

She had been a member of the Second General Baptist Church of Dexter.

Survivors include four sons, Donald Wiggs of Sun City, Ariz., Leon Wiggs of Cape Girardeau, Charles Wiggs of Jonesboro, Ark., and Ronald Wiggs of Dexter; a daughter, Barbara Link of Jefferson City; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. today in Rainey Funeral Chapel in Dexter, with the Rev. Phil Warren officiating. Interment will follow in Bernie Cemetery.
