Ruth H. Bierschwal, 94, of Cape Girardeau passed away Monday, July 18, 2011, at the Lutheran Home. She was born June 14, 1917, in Gordonville, daughter of Henry and Bertha Sebastian Sailer. She and Bernard "Bernie" Bierschwal were married Dec. 19, 1948, at Grace United Methodist Church. He passed away April 1, 2000...

Ruth H. Bierschwal, 94, of Cape Girardeau passed away Monday, July 18, 2011, at the Lutheran Home.

She was born June 14, 1917, in Gordonville, daughter of Henry and Bertha Sebastian Sailer. She and Bernard "Bernie" Bierschwal were married Dec. 19, 1948, at Grace United Methodist Church. He passed away April 1, 2000.

Ruth was baptized at Christ Lutheran Church in Gordonville, July 8, 1917, and confirmed May 12, 1929. She was a member of Hanover Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.

She worked at the former Ruesler Motor Co. and was a bookkeeper at the former Riverside Lumber Co., both in Cape Girardeau.

Loving survivors include a sister, Grace Coy of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Calvin (Verla) Sailer of Cape Girardeau; a stepson, Wayne (Ann) Horton of Tyler, Texas; and many loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Dorothy Catlett; and an infant brother and infant sister.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to service time Wednesday at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

The funeral will be at noon Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Barry Pfanstiel officiating. Interment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery.
