RUTH BESS

CHAFFEE -- Ruth Ann Bess, 65, of Chaffee died Friday, Feb. 20, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born June 3, 1932, at Chaffee, daughter of Jesse Forrest and Florine Mary Skelton Dudley. She and Dennis H. Bess were married May 8, 1948.

Bess had worked as a sewing machine operator at Buckstein's Pants Factory. She was a member of First Baptist Church and former member of Ladies Auxiliary to VFW Post 3127.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Dennis and Gary Bess of Cape Girardeau; three daughters, Sue Brooks-Pence of St. Louis, Gail Meyer and Lura Scowder of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Reginald Dudley of Bonnieville, Ky., John Dudley of Burfordville; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, her parents, and three brothers.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee after 4 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the chapel, with Dr. Larry Gallamore and the Rev. Watis Harrell officiating. Burial will be in Union Park Cemetery.
