CHARLESTON - Russell Sutherland, 77, of Charleston, died Friday, Feb. 19, 1993 at his home. He was born June 30, 1915 in Mississippi County, the son of Frank Russell and Margaret Adeline Farmer Sutherland, Sr.
He lived in Mississippi County his entire life, where he had been employed with McCracken Oil Co. for 10 years and was engaged in farming until his retirement in 1981.
He was an Army veteran of World War II, a member of VFW Post 4294 and the American Legion. He was of the Methodist faith.
On July 24, 1946 he married Daisy Barfield, who survives. Also surviving are: a son, F.R. (Buz) Sutherland of Route 3 Charleston; a daughter, Sara Story of Charleston; two brothers, Harry and Richard Sutherland, both of Charleston; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, where services will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. Rev. Richard Combs, pastor of the United Methodist Church of Charleston, will officiate. Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
