Russell Ernest Goehring Sr., 80, of 1204 S. Sprigg died Sunday, Sept. 1, 1996, at his home.
He was born Jan. 12, 1916, in Cape Girardeau, the son of Ernest and Mable Young Goehring. He married Maxine Bollinger on Dec. 24, 1947, in Piggott, Ark.
Goehring was a graduate of Cape Central High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the South Pacific, receiving two Bronze Stars. He owned and operated Russ Body and Paint Shop for 30 years in Cape Girardeau and was a motorboat operator for the U.S. Coast Guard.
Goehring was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau and of VFW Post 3838.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Russell E. Goehring Jr. and David H. Goehring of Cape Girardeau; one sister, Pauline Perez of Monterey, Calif.; and two granddaughters.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today at Ford & Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Mount Auburn chapel with the Rev. David Dissen officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery with graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 3838.
