MARBLE HILL -- Rupert F. Leslie, 89, of Marble Hill died Monday, Dec. 8, 1997, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Nov. 21, 1908, at Gravel Hill, son of Jefferson and Bessie Burnett Leslie. He and Grace Seabaugh were married Dec. 26, 1928. They lived in the Scopus community most of their life.
Leslie farmed, and was a member of Scopus United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, the Rev. Rupert "Jack" Leslie of Marble Hill, Ronald Leslie of Leopold; four daughters, Patsy Welker of Marble Hill, Shirley Peyton of High Ridge, Linda Bennett of O'Fallon, Judy Johnson of Jackson; a sister, Mary Caldwell of Albuquerque, N.M.; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandmother.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, three sisters, and a grandson.
Friends may call at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill after 4 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jack Leslie officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery near Marble Hill.
