Funeral service for Rufus Clarence Cherry, 1624 Oak Hills, will be held at 1 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel. The Rev. Glenn Hamilton will officiate, with burial in Forrest Hills Cemetery at Morley.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 11 a.m. to service time.
Cherry, 93, died Wednesday, March 23, 1994, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born Feb. 25, 1901, in Mason Hall, Tenn., son of Frank and Myrtle Cherry. He and Mary Collins were married Dec. 26, 1918, in Kenton, Tenn.
Cherry was a farmer, and had lived in Cape Girardeau since 1962.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Leon Cherry of Cape Girardeau, Ron Cherry of Denver, Colo.; four daughters, Cherry Hopkins and Bonnie Hesselrode of Cape Girardeau, Juanita McArthur of Sikeston, Carmie White of Chicago; a half sister, Beauton Caudel of Memphis, Tenn.; 20 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, a half brother and two stepsisters.
