ANNA, Ill. -- Ruel R. Hindman, 96, of Anna died Thursday, Jan. 1, 1998, at his home.
He was born Dec. 9, 1901, near Campground Church, son of George and Florida Otrich Hindman. He married LaWanda Pygett at Anna in 1934. She died August 1968. He married Juanita Davis Aug. 28, 1971, at Union County. She survives.
He was a member of the Anna Heights Baptist Church and former member and board chairman of the Anna-Jonesboro Consolidated High School District 81, and a lifetime member of American Angus Association. He taught school for more than 20 years and was a livestock farmer and orchardist and a retired marketing specialist for the Illinois Department of Agriculture.
He is survived by a daughter, Dr. Pam Hearn of Cape Girardeau; two stepdaughters, Carla Pierceall of New Berlin and Margaret Pender of Centralia; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; and nine step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call today from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday until the time of service at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna. Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Scott Harner officiating. Burial will be at Anna Cemetery.
