Rudolf Benjamin Leimbach, 90, of Pocahontas passed away Friday, Jan. 16, 2015, at the Monticello House in Jackson.

He was born July 27, 1924, in Pocahontas to Otto H. and Julia Hemman Leimbach. He and Melva I. Perr were married April 7, 1951.

Rudolf was a veteran of Word War II having been inducted into the U.S. Army on Dec. 12, 1944, and being honorably discharged Dec. 2, 1946 at the rank of sergeant. After returning from service, he owned and operated a farm near Pocahontas, where he raised crops and livestock. Rudolf was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Pocahontas for many years.

Loving survivors include his wife, Melva, of over 63 years; four children, Richard (Kathleen) Leimbach of Jackson, Alice Proemsey of Hillsboro, Missouri, Keith (Debbie) Leimbach of Jackson and Kevin (Vicki) Leimbach of Altenburg, Missouri; one sister, Lorene Aurich of St. Louis; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Rudolf was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Marlene; three brothers; and four sisters.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson and after 9 a.m. Monday at the Zion Lutheran Church in Pocahontas.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the church, with the Rev. Virgil Kelm officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery with full military honors.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to the Zion Lutheran Church or to Saxony Lutheran School.
