SIKESTON -- Rubye Hamby Sims, 93, of Sikeston died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 1996, at Miner Nursing Center in Miner.
She was born May 18, 1903, in Harrisburg, La., daughter of Samuel L. and Dora Francis Sliger Crow. She and Dr. Earl B. Sims were married May 27, 1942, in St. Louis. He died in 1968.
Sims had been a self-employed physiotherapist. She had lived in Sikeston since 1908. She was a member of Calvary Temple Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include six grandchildren, Jo Ellen Albrecht of Eureka, Robert Hamby of Murrayville, Ill., Patricia Blaylock and Michael Hamby of Houston, Texas, David Hamby of Springfield, Ill., Major Jesse Hamby with the U.S. Air Force in Kansas; 18 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Sikeston from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the chapel, with the Rev. Larry Davis officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.
