Rubye E. Kraft, 92, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2010, at Chateau Girardeau Health Center.

She was born Feb. 28, 1918, in Cape Girardeau County, to George E. and Emma Perry Farrow. Rubye and Donald B. Kraft were married Sept. 28, 1944, in Cape Girardeau County. He preceded her in death Jan. 21, 2010.

Kraft graduated from the Chicago American School and the former Brown Business College in Cape Girardeau. She also attended Southeast Missouri State University.

While living in Europe she was an avid collector of antiques. She retired after 20 years of civil service with the Department of the Army. She served in Europe, Chicago and Washington, D.C. She was a financial analyst in the office of the Army Chief of Staff for Forces Development in the Pentagon.

Following her return to Cape Girardeau she owned and operated an upscale antique shop for a period of time on lower Independence Street.

She and her husband donated a collection of 18th-century furniture to Southeast Missouri State University. It is located in the university's Alumni Center. They have also donated various collections of artifacts to the university.

Survivors include three brothers, Russell Farrow, Elmer Don Farrow and George E. Farrow Jr., all of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Betty Ward of Murphysboro, Ill., and June Mahy of St. Louis. A number of nieces, nephews and later generations of relatives are living in the area.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to service time today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at the funeral home, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating. Entombment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Humane Society of Southeast Missouri.
