Ruby Lee Lemonds Neihart, 87, of Cape Girardeau passed away peacefully Monday, Sept. 8, 2014, at Life Care Center of Cape Girardeau, in the presence of her son and daughter. She was born Jan. 2, 1927, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to Chester Arthur and Addie Mae Watkins Lemonds. She and Franklin C. Neihart were married in 1945 in Oakland, California. He preceded her in death in 1950...

Ruby Lee Lemonds Neihart, 87, of Cape Girardeau passed away peacefully Monday, Sept. 8, 2014, at Life Care Center of Cape Girardeau, in the presence of her son and daughter.

She was born Jan. 2, 1927, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to Chester Arthur and Addie Mae Watkins Lemonds. She and Franklin C. Neihart were married in 1945 in Oakland, California. He preceded her in death in 1950.

Ruby was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral. She retired from Southeast Hospital as a licensed practical nurse. She had been a volunteer at FISH and at Birthright. Ruby Lee enjoyed being an artist and she quilted at St. Mary's Cathedral and at Bethany Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Gregory A. (Nancy) Neihart of Georgetown, Texas; a daughter, Ruth Ellen (Jack) Carey of Belleville, Illinois; a sister, Joan Jones of Cape Girardeau; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Franklin C. Neihart and Marty Von Bertling; two brothers; and three sisters.

There will be no service. Private burial was in Cape County Memorial Park.

Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
