Ruby Marie Friedrich, 81, of Jackson passed away Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. She was born Dec. 22, 1927, in Ancell, Mo., to George and Matilda Hess Peetz. Ruby attended grade school in Kelso, Mo., and Cape Girardeau and was a 1946 graduate of the former St. Mary's High School in Cape Girardeau. She and David Friedrich were married Dec. 27, 1947, in Kelso. He passed away Aug. 2, 1963...

Ruby Marie Friedrich, 81, of Jackson passed away Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Dec. 22, 1927, in Ancell, Mo., to George and Matilda Hess Peetz.

Ruby attended grade school in Kelso, Mo., and Cape Girardeau and was a 1946 graduate of the former St. Mary's High School in Cape Girardeau. She and David Friedrich were married Dec. 27, 1947, in Kelso. He passed away Aug. 2, 1963.

Ruby's employment included the former Wille's Bakery, Pingel's Bakery and Rigdon's Bakery, all in Jackson; the former PN Hirsch in Jackson; and the former Albert Sander Hardware Store in Jackson. In 1999, she retired from Kmart in Cape Girardeau after 15 years of service.

Ruby had been a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson since her marriage.

Loving survivors include three sons, David C. (Jenny) Friedrich of North Augusta, S.C., Roger (Connie) Friedrich of Cape Girardeau and Dennis (Rita) Friedrich of Chaffee, Mo.; two daughters, Diana (Gerald) Brown of Jackson, Becky (Phillip) Samson of Versailles, Mo.; 16 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jo Ann (the late Warren) Pollock of Belleville, Ill., and Martha (the late John) Holzum of Columbia, Ill; and a sister-in-law, Barbara Jean (Marvin) Peetz.

She was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Norma and Merrill "Buzz" Simmons.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. The rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Visitors will notice in Ruby's casket an organ donor medallion signifying her anatomical donation to Mid-America Transplant Services.

The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson, with the Rev. John Harth officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

The family suggests memorials to Immaculate Conception Building Fund.
