Ruby Marie Quade Cook, 88, of Jackson went to be with her Lord Jesus on Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017, at Jackson Manor.

She was born Dec. 10, 1928, in Gordonville to Jess and Ida Gerecke Quade. She accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and was confirmed at age 14 at Zion Lutheran Church in Gordonville. She and Leslie A. Cook were married Jan. 11, 1947, in Gordonville.

She worked at International Shoe Co. in Jackson, as a housekeeper at Thrifty Inn and on the family farm near Whitewater. She and Leslie lived at Cloud Nine Ranch in West Plains, Missouri, for five or six years before returning to the Jackson area.

She was a member of Whitewater United Methodist Church. She loved her church and church family. She was active in the children's church and women's organizations. She spent many hours cleaning the church in worship and service of her Lord.

Survivors include three sons, Ron (Sandra) Cook of Whitewater, Terry (Annette) Cook of Georgetown, Texas, and Keith (Teresa) Cook of Whitewater; daughter, Shirley Kessler of Jackson; two sisters-in-law, Ruby Stroder of Jackson and Jessie Quade of Potosi, Missouri; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, Clarence Quade, Clyde Quade and Curtis Quade; and six sisters, Clara Cracraft, Jessie Hanschen, Patsy Morgan, Betty Brucker, Irene Clingingsmith and infant sister, Lorene Quade.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Don Kuehle officiating. Burial will be at Zion United Methodist Cemetery in Gordonville.

Memorial contributions may be given to Whitewater United Methodist Church.
