Funeral service for Col. Roy F. Sides, 905 S. Benton, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel. The Revs. Ronnie Brown, Doyle Randol and Lee Cook will officiate, with burial in Lorimier Cemetery.

Friends may call at the chapel from 4-8 p.m. today.

Sides, 84, died Monday, March 11, 1996, at his home.

He was born June 10, 1911, at Leemon, son of John and Bell Mathis Sides. He and Lorna Belva Eakers were married March 2, 1934, in Cape Girardeau. She preceded him in death. He later married Hilda Lydia Rubel June 17, 1945, in Murray, Ky. She died Jan. 10, 1972.

Sides had been an auctioneer in Southeast Missouri since 1930, owned and operated a furniture business and was a cab driver in Cape Girardeau. He was a member of Calvary United Pentecostal Church in Jackson.

Survivors include two sons, the Rev. John Sides of Lander, Wyo., Jeffrey Sides of Scott City; three daughters, Barbara Tucker of Cape Girardeau, Glenda Deason of Fresno, Calif.; Peggy Teague of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Mildred Cobb of Ohio; 11 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister.
