BERNIE, Mo. -- Roy Elmer Petty, 99, of Bernie died Monday, July 9, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was born Sept. 8, 1901, at Dexter, Mo., son of George Wesley and Laura Bell Williams Petty. He and Ollie Mills were married Feb. 7, 1925, at Bernie. She died Jan. 22, 1992...

BERNIE, Mo. -- Roy Elmer Petty, 99, of Bernie died Monday, July 9, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Sept. 8, 1901, at Dexter, Mo., son of George Wesley and Laura Bell Williams Petty. He and Ollie Mills were married Feb. 7, 1925, at Bernie. She died Jan. 22, 1992.

Petty had farmed, and was a member of White Oak Grove General Baptist Church

Survivors include a daughter, Joyce Overby of Bernie; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, three brothers, a sister, and a great-grandson.

Friends may call at Rainey Funeral Home in Bernie from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Susan Marner-Sides and Ron Dunavin officiating. Burial will be in Smith-Stevenson Cemetery near Dexter.
