ZALMA -- Roy Lingle died Jan. 4, 1997, at his home in Zalma. He was 83 years old.
He was born April 26, 1913, son of Guy and Bet Berrong Lingle. On Jan. 8, 1932, he married Geneva Nichols on Jan. 8, 1932. She preceded him in death in 1985.
He served the Zalma community for 35 years as the owner of Lingle Store. He was a member of the Body of Christ church.
He is survived by three daughters, Betty Giesler of Oak Ridge, and Linda Pape and Janice Mayberry, both of Zalma; one sister, Alpha Bryant of Zalma; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Visitation is scheduled for Monday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel, Rev. Naamon Eaker officiating. Burial will follow in Berrong Cemetery near Zalma.
