JACKSON -- Funeral service for Roy Charles Harris of Jackson will be held at 2 p.m. today at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Don Covington will officiate, with burial in Morgan Memorial Park at Advance.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 9 a.m. to service time.

Harris, 71, died Thursday, May 9, 1996, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Dec. 6, 1924, in Advance, son of Carmen O. and Dottie Wiggins Harris. He and Helen Courter were married May 11, 1946, in Piggott, Ark.

Harris was a maintenance worker with Natural Gas Pipeline of America for 33 years, retiring in 1986. He had also been a real estate agent with Jackson Realty Co.

He moved to Jackson in 1967 from Poplar Bluff. He was a member of New McKendree United Methodist Church and Jackson Elks Lodge 2652.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Linda Gochenauer of Bridgeton, Connie Matia of Festus; a sister, Marie Tippett of Marble Hill, and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother.
