Roy J. Erson, 91, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, Jan. 14, 2005, at the Lutheran Home.
He was born April 6, 1913, at Minneapolis, Minn., son of Carl and Augusta Erson. He and Betty J. Hollingsworth were married Nov. 14, 1941, in Minneapolis.
Erson served in the U.S. Army during World War II, achieving the rank of captain. He was employed many years in Minnesota as owner/manager of Eveleth Lumber Co. and later worked as a government cartographer in St. Louis. He retired in 1978.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Tom Erson of Grand Rapids, Minn., Jeff Erson of Atlanta, Ga.; a daughter, Christine Gross of Jackson; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceeded in death by a son and a brother.
Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Kutis Funeral Home, 5255 Lemay Ferry Road (Butler Hill and Highway 55), St. Louis.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Burial with military rites will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
