JACKSON -- Roy E. McIntyre of Jackson died at his home Sunday, Oct. 19, 1997. He was 73 years old. He was born Aug. 8, 1924, at Cape Girardeau, the son of Jessie and Lora Crites McIntyre. On Oct. 3, 1942, he married Dorothy James. She survives. He worked in the paint department for General Motors in St. Louis for 30 years before retiring in 1983. He was a member of the UAW Local No. 25 of St. Louis. He moved to Oak Ridge in 1979 and to Jackson in 1983, and he was of the Baptist faith...

JACKSON -- Roy E. McIntyre of Jackson died at his home Sunday, Oct. 19, 1997. He was 73 years old.

He was born Aug. 8, 1924, at Cape Girardeau, the son of Jessie and Lora Crites McIntyre. On Oct. 3, 1942, he married Dorothy James. She survives.

He worked in the paint department for General Motors in St. Louis for 30 years before retiring in 1983. He was a member of the UAW Local No. 25 of St. Louis. He moved to Oak Ridge in 1979 and to Jackson in 1983, and he was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Roy and Bob McIntyre, both of Jackson; Larry McIntyre, of Oak Ridge; and Rick McIntyre of Daisy; one daughter, Joyce Kliemann of Jackson; two brothers, Jesse McIntyre of Oak Ridge and Orville McIntyre of Jackson; one sister, Pat Hockle of Jackson; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by an infant brother.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.

Service will be held at the funeral home at 2 p.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. Don Estes officiating. Burial will follow in the Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
