MORLEY, Mo. -- Roy Lee Coy, 87, of Madison, Ill., formerly of Morley, died Thursday, Sept. 1, 2005, at John Cochran VA Medical Center in St. Louis. He was born Nov. 27, 1917, in Elfie, Ky., son of Clarence Arthur and Pearl Beasley Coy. He and Ophia "Peggy" Emerson were married Oct. 29, 1938, in Jackson. She died Nov. 3, 2000...

MORLEY, Mo. -- Roy Lee Coy, 87, of Madison, Ill., formerly of Morley, died Thursday, Sept. 1, 2005, at John Cochran VA Medical Center in St. Louis.

He was born Nov. 27, 1917, in Elfie, Ky., son of Clarence Arthur and Pearl Beasley Coy. He and Ophia "Peggy" Emerson were married Oct. 29, 1938, in Jackson. She died Nov. 3, 2000.

Coy was a locomotive crane operator for LaClede Steel Co. in Alton, Ill., and had also worked for St. Louis and South Western Railroad at Illmo.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include three sons, the Rev. Ronald Coy of Baldwinsville, N.Y., Dennis Coy of Madison, Steven Coy of Cincinnati, Ohio; a daughter, Faye Foster of Warrenton, Va.; a brother, Stoy Coy of Cape Girardeau; two half sisters, Linda Devine of Louisville, Ky., Barbara Gullion of the state of Florida; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a half brother and a sister.

Friends may call from noon to service time Sunday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston, Mo.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the chapel, with the Rev. Ronald Coy and Carl Foster officiating. Burial will be in New Morley Cemetery with full military honors by Missouri Military Honor Guard.
