CAIRO, Ill. -- Rose E. Reisinger, 51, of Cairo died Friday, Dec. 17, 1999, at the home of a sister in Villa Ridge. She was born July 30, 1948, in Cairo, daughter of Isom and Salome Schmaeng Reisinger. Reisinger was a graduate of Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. She was a teacher at St. Joseph School in Cairo and also taught at Bennett School in Cairo and in Carbondale schools. She received the Wal-Mart Teacher of the Year Award in 1997...

CAIRO, Ill. -- Rose E. Reisinger, 51, of Cairo died Friday, Dec. 17, 1999, at the home of a sister in Villa Ridge.

She was born July 30, 1948, in Cairo, daughter of Isom and Salome Schmaeng Reisinger.

Reisinger was a graduate of Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. She was a teacher at St. Joseph School in Cairo and also taught at Bennett School in Cairo and in Carbondale schools. She received the Wal-Mart Teacher of the Year Award in 1997.

She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella and American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include seven sisters, Ruth Marcy of San Jose, Calif., Mary Wehrle of Lecoma, Mo., Ann Pica of Fairbury, Rita Kupris of Sherman, Lorreta Reisinger of Springfield, Agnes Wehrenberg of Villa Ridge, and Martha DuBois of Murphysboro.

Also surviving are four brothers, Frederick Reisinger of Ashton, William Reisinger of Oakdale, Conn., Michael Reisinger of Schenectady, N.Y., and David Reisinger of Carterville.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends may call at Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo after 5 p.m. Sunday. The rosary will be recited at 7:30.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick's Church. The Revs. Jerome Fortenberry and Bill McGhee will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at Villa Ridge.
