Rose Kern

NEW HAMBURG, Mo. -- Rose Anna Kern, 91, of New Hamburg died Sunday, June 22, 2003, at Chaffee Nursing Center in Chaffee, Mo.

She was born July 16, 1911, at New Hamburg, daughter of Joseph and Sophia Gosche Westrich. She and Aloysius Kern were married Sept. 6, 1932, at New Hamburg. He died June 7, 1960.

Kern was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church and its Ladies Sodality, and Senior Citizens of New Hamburg.

Survivors include four sons, Elmer "Cotton" Kern, Robert "Duke" Kern, Aloysius "Otto" Kern Jr. and Donnie Kern, all of New Hamburg; four daughters, Georgie Bennett, Barb Kern, Charlene Steger and Carol Klipfel, all of New Hamburg; a sister, Anna Glastetter of New Hamburg; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a great-stepgrandchild.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, five brothers, and four sisters.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Benton after 5 p.m. today. Parish prayers will be at 6:30 p.m., followed immediately by Knights of Columbus service.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Lawrence Church, with the Rev. Normand Varone officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
