OLMSTED, Ill. -- Rose Edith Brashear Edwards, age 87, of Olmsted passed away at 10:20 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011, at Daystar Care Center in Cairo, Ill.

Mrs. Edwards was born Feb. 19, 1924, in Pulaski County, Ill., daughter of the late Carl Brashear and Bessie Perkins Brashear.

Rose Edith was a charter member of Caledonia Baptist Church in Olmsted, was a member of the Women's Missionary Union and had taught for 70 years as a Sunday school teacher. She was a housewife and homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gilbert Owen Edwards on Dec. 20, 2006; and two brothers, Harold and Clyde Brashear.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, the Rev. Gene and Diane Edwards of Mountain Grove, Mo., Bob and Monica Edwards of Olmsted; grandchildren, Lorrie (Greg) Dixon, Lynnie (Mark) Richardson, Heather (Bronson) Biggerstaff, Jason Edwards; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Chloe and Ruth Dixon, Miles and Carissa Richardson, Drake and Jadeyn Biggerstaff, Jaicey Edwards; a brother, Herbert (Gloria) Brashear of Santa Rosa, Calif.; sister-in-law, Susie Brashear of Erwin, Tenn.; sister-in-law, Mary Catherine Schweiger of Cape Girardeau; brother-in-law, Charles (Barbara) Edwards of Olmsted; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge, Ill.

Funeral services for Rose Edith Edwards will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with her sons the Rev. Gene and Bob Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in the Green Lawn Memorial Gardens, Villa Ridge.

Memorials in memory of Rose Edith may be made to the donor's choice.
