ROSE E. DORRIS

EAST PRAIRIE -- Rose Ethel Dorris, 70, of East Prairie, died Thursday, April 30, 1992, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

She was born Feb. 16, 1922, in Tipton County, Tenn., daughter of Cary and Annie Stivers Shankle. She married James A. Dorris May 29, 1939. He died Sept. 7, 1988.

Dorris was a member of Church of Christ here.

Survivors include five sons, Wylie Dorris of Kevil, Ky., Allen Dorris Sr. of Charleston, Larry Dorris of Sikeston, Garry and Archie Dorris of East Prairie; six daughters, Shelby Holmes of Charelston, Lucy Slaven of Cesero, Ill., Annie Staggs of Benton, Ky., Sharon Leal of Peyrsall, Texas, Lola Bryars and Terry Dampier of East Prairie; a brother, Rex Shankle of East Prairie; two sisters, Ruth Rhienart of Arizona, Marie Ross of Illinois; 46 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister and brother.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Chapel here. The Revs. Raymond Hannah and Amos Johnson will officiate, with burial in IOOF Cemetery near Charleston.
