Ronald Nelson Schumer, 67, of Sikeston, Mo., formerly of Scott City, died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003, at Hunter Acres Caring Center in Sikeston.
He was born Feb. 14, 1936, son of the late Buford and Ruby Gaither Schumer. He and Gloria Naes were married Jan. 21, 1967, at Cape Girardeau.
Schumer was a grocer at A & P Tea Company in Cape Girardeau and the Scott City IGA. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sikeston, a former member and deacon of the Illmo Baptist Church in Scott City and a past member of the Scott City Kiwanis Club.
Survivors include his wife; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Joseph and Amy Schumer of Falls Church, Va., and Dr. Matthew and Kristi Schumer of Jackson; three grandsons, Jonathan, Colin and Nathaniel Schumer; and one granddaughter, Katherine Schumer.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City. Funeral will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Patrick Tankersley will officiate, with burial at Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
