Ronald "Bear" Scheper, 69, of Cape Girardeau passed away Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013, at Southeast Hospital.
He was born Aug. 21, 1943, in Cape Girardeau, son of the late Harry Edward and Aileen Alice Hulehan Scheper. Ron and Paulette Ponder were married March 27, 1983, in Las Vegas.
Ron was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He had worked as a pipe fitter all over the United States. He was a member of Friends of Bill, Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 562, and H.O. Grauel Lodge 672 AF&AM.
He is survived by his wife, Paulette Scheper of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Tammy Scheper of Richmond, Va.; three grandchildren, Angela Farmer, Kristina Jeter and Ronnie Scheper; and four great-grandchildren.
Ron was preceded in death by three sons, Ronald Scheper Jr., Curtis and Randy Scheper; a sister, Florence Vestal; and a grandson, Thomas Jeter.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home. Masonic service will be at 7 p.m.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating. Entombment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
