CHAFFEE -- Ronald E. Dowd, 69, of Chaffee, died Monday, Jan. 23, 1995, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Oct. 6, 1925, at Hayti, son of Sidney Lee and Sarah Beatrice Rafferty Dowd Sr. He and Ella N. Culbertson were married Nov. 26, 1947.
Dowd retired as a fireman with Cotton Belt Railroad in Illmo. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Chaffee, Scott City VFW Post 6407, Elks Lodge 639 and Eagles Aerie 3775 in Cape Girardeau.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Gayle Dragoni of Chaffee; three brothers, S.L. Dowd Jr. of Pineville, La., J.D. Dowd of New Madrid, Ray Dowd of Chaffee, and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son and sister.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee after 5 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel, with the Rev. Kenneth Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park at Cape Girardeau.
