Roger Duncan Scott, 86, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, Dec. 9, 2016, at his home.
He was born Dec. 10, 1929, in LaGrange, Illinois, to Wilfred A. and Henrietta G. (Cheney) Scott. On Feb. 19, 1955, he married Eunice M. Heinrich.
After high-school graduation, he began working for the family business, LaGrange Floral Shop. He also served in the Army National Guard. In 1954, he started with Standard Oil in Chicago and was transferred to Cape Girardeau in 1975.
He began working for Delta Asphalt Co. in 1977 and retired in 1984.
He was an active member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Chapel and served in multiple capacities in his 40 years as a member.
He also was very active in the community.
He served on various boards and committees and put in many volunteer hours, including The American Red Cross and FISH food pantry.
He is survived by his son, Gary D. (Teresa) Scott of Warrenton, Missouri; his daughter, Sandy J. (Blake) Rundell of St. Louis; his son-in-law, Frank Ruiz of Chicago; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eunice; his daughter, Susan A. Ruiz; and his brother, William.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Chapel in Cape Girardeau. Interment will be at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
