He was born Nov. 10, 1952, in Freeburg, Illinois, the son of Francis and Minnie Mae Gould Hanner.
Roger worked as a maintenance man at the rice plant in New Madrid, Missouri.

He is survived by his special friend, Mary Fowler of Scott City; son, Mathew Hanner of Dexter, Missouri; daughter, Becky Stein of Cape Girardeau; and brother, Richard Hanner of Owensboro, Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Bob Nelson.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Assembly of God Church in Scott City. The Rev. Randy Morse will officiate.
Amick-Burnett Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
