Robin Christine Bates, 57, of Cape Girardeau passed away Sunday, Nov. 4, 2018, at Life Care Center. She was born April 28, 1961, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Don and Ruth Craft Niswonger. Robin Christine Bates, 57, of Cape Girardeau passed away Sunday, Nov. 4, 2018, at Life Care Center.

She was born April 28, 1961, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Don and Ruth Craft Niswonger. She and Vester Bates were married March 18, 1979.

Robin attended school in Jackson, and was a member of the Salvation Army in Cape Girardeau. She also enjoyed volunteering at the Salvation Army.

Loving survivors include two children, Lisa (Jeff) McBride of Benton, Missouri, and Dustin (fiancee Cindy Anschultz) of Sikeston, Missouri; her father and stepmother, Don and Judy Niswonger of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Kim (Joe) Ward of Millersville; three grandchildren, Brooke, Matthew and Lacey McBride; a niece, Kristen (Dustin) Keller of Jackson; a great-niece and two great-nephews; and her former husband, Vester Bates of Bell City, Missouri. She was anticipating the birth of her first great-grandchild in December, Jasper Lane Henry.

Robin was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth Niswonger, and her maternal and paternal grandparents.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until service time today at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. today at the funeral home, with the Rev. Elmer Trapp officiating. Interment will follow in Niswonger Cemetery near Millersville.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to the Salvation Army in Cape Girardeau.
