Robert Hope Wright, 82, of the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009, at Saint Francis Medical Center.
He was born Nov. 9, 1926, in Cape Girardeau, the son of James E. and Della Mae Martin Wright. He and Geraldine "Tubby" Ford were married on Jan. 15, 1945, in Blytheville, Ark. She died Oct. 16, 1982.
Wright graduated from College High School in Cape Girardeau in 1944. He served in the U.S. Army from March 1945 to July 1946.
He was employed by Esicars Meat Shop as a meat processor.
Survivors include a daughter, Judy (David) Hutteger of Cape Girardeau; three sons, Robert R. (Janet) Wright of Huntsville, Ala., James E. (Connie) Wright of St. Louis, Randy D. (Debbie) Wright of Pacific, Mo.; a daughter-in-law, Kathryn O. Wright of Cape Girardeau; a brother, William (Robbie) Wright of Cape Girardeau; three sisters, Madge Sample of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Phyllis Conyers of Overland, Mo., Shirley (Dick) Thomas of Cape Girardeau; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, his mother, his wife, five brothers, five sisters and a son, Steven Wright.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The Rev. A.J. Lohmann will officiate, with burial in St. Mary Cemetery in Cape Girardeau. The Missouri Honors Team will perform military graveside rites.
