Robert Andrew "Robby" Vann, 50, of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008, in Rancho Cucamonga. He was born Feb. 24, 1958, in Cape Girardeau, the second son of William Earl and Beulah Mason Vann. He attended public schools in Cape Girardeau and graduated from Central High School. He joined the Peace Corps in 1975 and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1976. He received a medal for the triple jump in the Army Olympics while stationed in Neuenburg, Germany...

Robert Andrew "Robby" Vann, 50, of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008, in Rancho Cucamonga.

He was born Feb. 24, 1958, in Cape Girardeau, the second son of William Earl and Beulah Mason Vann. He attended public schools in Cape Girardeau and graduated from Central High School. He joined the Peace Corps in 1975 and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1976. He received a medal for the triple jump in the Army Olympics while stationed in Neuenburg, Germany.

He married Mary Webb in Cape Girardeau, and to this union one daughter, Timeka Vann, was born. He later met and married Raquel Maico. To this union one daughter, Andrina Vann, and two sons, Rans and Andrew Vann, were born.

Robert leaves to cherish and celebrate his reflections of a saved life in Christ Jesus his mom, Beulah Vann-Perry of Cape Girardeau; his loving wife, Raquel Maico-Vann; Andrina, Rans and Andrew Vann of the home; Timeka Vann-Guyton (Josh) of Edwardsville, Ill.; two grandchildren, Timea and Joshua Guyton of Edwardsville; two brothers, Elder David Vann (Jean) of St. Louis, Elder Mark Vann (Janice) of La Palma, Calif.; a sister, Peggy Vann of Cape Girardeau; an aunt, Martha Wilson of Jackson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Earl Vann; older sister, Deborah Vann; and a nephew, Mark Anthony Vann of California.

As Robert would always say, "Grace and Peace. Shalom."

The service was held Nov. 26 at Azusa World Ministries in Pasadena, Calif.

Forest Lawn Mortuary in Covina, Calif., was in charge of arrangements.
