Robert E. Turley, 80, of Jackson passed away Sunday, Jan. 25, 2009, at his home.

He was born July 30, 1928, in Ste. Genevieve County, Mo., son of Bert C. and Pearl Pigg Turley. He and Ada "Toots" Thomasson were married April 11, 1946.

Robert attended the former Turley Grade School in Ste. Genevieve County, graduating from the former Desloge High School in 1945. He was a salesman for Kraft Food Co., and in 1957 moved from Sikeston, Mo., to Jackson. He owned and operated the former Turley Drive-in Cleaners in Jackson for 14 years. He co-owned the former Turley Dodge in Farmington, Mo., and during the mid-1970s he worked for Ford Groves in Cape Girardeau.

Robert was a former member of the Jackson Optimist Club and a charter member of La Croix United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau.

Loving survivors include his loving wife of 62 years; two sons and daughters-in-law, Vernon and Letti Turley of Barnhart, Mo., and Wayne and Karen Turley of Jackson; four grandchildren, Shannon (Nathan) Hughey, Sara Turley, Nathan (Alisha) Turley and McKenzie (Joe) Walter; three great-grandchildren, Kannen, Mason and Evan Turley; a brother, Ralph (Ethel) Turley of Farmington; and a sister, Velma (Jerry) Bannister of Bonne Terre, Mo.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ron Watts officiating.

Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to La Croix United Methodist Church.
