Robert "Bob" Todt, son of the late John and Bertha Hoehn Todt, was born Jan. 23, 1934, in Morehouse, Missouri, and departed his life Thursday, Sept. 14, 2023, at Lutheran Home at Cape Girardeau at the age of 89 years.
He was a member of the Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Oran, Missouri, and a former resident of Oran.
Bob was raised on a dairy farm south of Morley, Missouri. He understood the importance of faith, family and hard work. Bob was the owner and operator of Oran Tavern until 1979. He drove a school bus for Oran School District until the age of 70. Bob spent the largest part of his career as a Knights of Columbus insurance agent, retiring in 1996.
He was a member of Oran Chamber of Commerce, served as a Scott County reserve deputy under Sheriff Bill Ferrell and was one of the oldest remaining members of Chaffee (Missouri) Elks No. 1810. Bob was a charter member of Oran Knights of Columbus Council No. 4311, serving as financial secretary for more than 30 years, and was a fourth-degree member, faithful navigator, past state warden and district deputy for the state of Missouri.
After family, Bob was a man of service to his church and community. He served as a helpful usher at Guardian Angel Church services.
On July 7, 1962, he was united in marriage to Mary Vetter in Benton, Missouri. She survives of the home in Cape Girardeau.
Besides his wife, survivors include one son, Tom (Cindy) Todt of Blanchard, Oklahoma; two daughters, Donna (Kenny) Ross of Scopus, Missouri, and Gail (Alan) Dame of Wolf Lake, Illinois; five grandchildren, Tori (Tyson) Misak of Casper, Wyoming, Levi Todt of Wharton, Texas, Duncan (Madison) Ross of Smithton, Illinois, and Cole (Lexi) Ross and Devin (Megan) Ross, both of Cape Girardeau; brother-in-law, Alfred Vetter of Benton; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandy Todt; five brothers, Harold, Herman, Cletus, Carl and Sylvester Todt; three sisters, Regina, Gerry and Theresa; two brothers-in-law, Vernon Vetter and Tom Drury; and four sisters-in-law, Janet Vetter, Rita Drury, Jean Vetter and Sister Loretta Vetter, O.S.F.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18, at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran, also to include a KC prayer service.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, at Guardian Angel Church, with the Rev. Joseph Kelly officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Guardian Angel Catholic Church or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
