THEBES, Ill. -- Robert Stanley Shafer, 77, of Thebes, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 1998, at Ratliff Care Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo. He was born Feb. 8, 1920, at Illmo, Mo., son of Issac Newton and Allie Koonce Shafer. Shafer was a retired farmer. THEBES, Ill. -- Robert Stanley Shafer, 77, of Thebes, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 1998, at Ratliff Care Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

He was born Feb. 8, 1920, at Illmo, Mo., son of Issac Newton and Allie Koonce Shafer.

Shafer was a retired farmer.

Survivors include two nieces, Elizabeth McCoy and Cindy Hickerson of Thebes; four nephews, Edward Shafer of Alto Pass, Jim and Larry Shafer of Cape Girardeau, and Donald Shafer of Wickliffe, Ky.

Friends may call at Jones Funeral Home in Tamms from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Carl D. Fisher officiating. Burial will be in Lightner Cemetery at Scott City, Mo.
