Robert Schott

Robert A. Schott, 71, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010, at Saint Francis Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 14, 1939, in Old Appleton, to William B. and Anna Katherine Lauck Schott. He and Helen Claire Boone were married April 18, 1964, at New Madrid, Mo.

Robert was a graduate of Cape Girardeau Catholic High School. He attended St. Louis University two years and Ranken Technical College in St. Louis two years.

In 1959 he and his family started Schott Electrical Distributors Inc. He was the sole proprietor from 1982 until the business was sold in 1998.

Robert was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral where he served as an usher; Knights of Columbus Council 1111 and served as past grand knight; Thomas A. Langen Assembly, Fourth Degree; St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Mary's Cathedral; Elks Lodge 639; Eagles Aerie 3775; and the President's Council at Southeast Missouri State University.

He served six years in the National Guard.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Schott of Cape Girardeau; a son, Michael (Kimberly) Schott of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Pamela (Robert) Stamm of Columbus, Ga.; two brothers, William R. (Frankie) Schott and Harold (Judy) Schott of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Dorothy Holland of Cape Girardeau; three grandchildren, Coleman and Caroline Schott, and Dawson Stamm.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Christian Michael Schott; and a brother-in-law, John Holland.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home. Parish prayers will be at 7, with Knights of Columbus rosary immediately following.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Cathedral, with the Rev. Tom Kiefer officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to Birthright or St. Vincent de Paul Society.
